A Beautifully Full Saturday

“Fullness now comes not from being busy, but from being present.”

Some Saturdays unfold quietly.
Others arrive with a little more color, a little more movement, and a gentle reminder of how full life can still be.

Yesterday was one of those days.

Morning Wonder.

I was able to take a screenshot of the exact moment when Artemis Orion ‘Integrity’ splashed down in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Watching the Artemis splashdown live from home—one of those small moments of wonder that stays with you.

It began in the most unexpected way—sitting at home, coffee in hand, watching the live splashdown of the Artemis Integrity mission.

Yes, while I may look like an old soul, I am also a bit of a closet science nerd.

There is something deeply fascinating about astronauts, space travel, and the sheer courage it takes to leave Earth and find your way back safely.

From there, the day shifted into something softer and more personal.

Celebration.

A happy Lola Karen with her cute little bundle of joy Rozalia Mayumi, surrounded by her Lola’s adoring schoolmates from decades past.

I attended the baptismal reception of my friend Karen’s very first apo—

a celebratory milestone for any family.

There is always something deeply moving about welcoming a new life into the world.

It reminds us that time keeps moving forward, that families grow, and that love continues to expand in ways we never quite expect.

Celebrating Karen’s first grandchild: a moment of pure joy and new beginnings. A new chapter for her.

And then, as if the day had one more surprise waiting, the evening brought me back to familiar ground.

Theater.

I joined my production industry friends to watch the play Miranda: Yolanda at the PowerMac BlackBox Theater— an invitation generously gifted by my friend, Direk Mike Plana. Sitting in that theater, surrounded by people who have been part of my professional journey for so many years, felt both nostalgic and energizing.

The stage lights, the storytelling, the shared laughter and quiet moments of reflection—it all reminded me how deeply the creative world still feels like home.

"Evening at the Opera":
with Ana Abad Santos, Frances Makil-Ignacio, and Joshua Cabiladas.

Ang Kalungkutan ng mga Reyna" (The Sorrows of the Queens):
with Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino, Topper Fabregas and Jules Dela Paz.

With lead actor Topper Fabregas at the center, and my industry friends: (clockwise) Mama Beya the wigs master, creative director/writer Guilbert Buguis, executive producer Mila Tanteco and director Mike Plana.

An evening at the theater with friends from my production days—a world that still feels like home.

I warmly encourage theater lovers to catch Miranda: Yolanda. It is a remarkable production, elevated by compelling performances from the cast and storytelling that stays with you long after the curtain falls.

For a deeper look into the story behind the production and the creative team, this preview from Tatler Asia offers wonderful insight:

Three very different moments.
Science. Family. Art.

And yet, together, they formed one beautifully full day.

Days like this make me grateful—not for anything grand or dramatic, but for the simple privilege of still being curious, still being connected, and still being able to show up for the people and passions that matter.

At this stage in life, fullness does not come from being busy.
It comes from being present.

And yesterday, I was.
